There’s something magical that happens when you invest in yourself and in your business: you attract others who will invest in you and your business.
I didn’t realize this truth until I was in deep thought and self-reflection about my path of investing in myself and in my business. And really, they are one in the same.
There are a lot of entrepreneurs who are struggling to get clients; they are good at what they do, they love what they do, yet they don’t have enough paying clients and their low cash flow is stressing them out. Some have even chosen to get a part-time job or put their passion into hobby mode.
Does this sound like you? If so, I have a story that will inspire you to change your mindset and start attracting great clients.
As I look back on my professional life, I realize that I have been investing in my business since I started my first business at age 19.
My first profession was a hairstylist.
I knew that I wanted to be a great stylist so I invested in hair cutting and colour classes before I even graduated from cosmetology school. I was spending hundreds of dollars in my craft and I was always the only student taking these advanced courses among experienced stylists.
When I started in the salon, even though I was the youngest stylist, something amazing and atypical occurred, I built a full clientele within a year!
Clients were willing to invest their time and money with me because I had invested in my art as a stylist and it showed.
I then began to invest more in my business development. I invested in bookkeeping courses, business courses, books on marketing, and I joined networking organizations. I was attracting a lot of clients and was soon booked weeks in advance.
This pattern has continued well into my other careers. I invested in a life coach to help me balance my life and work as I was starting my accounting practice. The payoff was that I was as full as I wanted to be and I never even created a business card for that business!
As a networking mentor and business coach I am seeing that same pattern as I did with my salon business.
I have, and continually, invest in myself and my business. I have worked with several coaches on various areas of my business and my business keeps growing, sometimes faster than I think I’m ready for!
But I have learned to prepare for it now because every time I invest in myself and my business I know with 100% certainty that a growing spurt is right around the corner!
So if you find that you are feeling stagnant, or that your potential clients are not investing in you, then it might be that it’s time you start investing in yourself and your business so you attract those who will invest in you.
And if you’re not sure how to attract your ideal clients with your marketing and networking, I can help.
