Module Three: How to Nail Your “What I Do” Statement

When people ask what you do, you need to give them the right information (HINT: don’t answer with your title, label or industry).

In this course, your “What I Do” statements will get a huge makeover and you’ll soon be passing the “Face Test” and getting clients, leads and referrals from your networking conversations.

What’s the Face Test?

The “Face Test” is when someone you’re talking to visualizes the face of someone they know who can use your service or product. If you’re vague, broad and general with your messaging and often say “anyone” or “everyone” can benefit from what you have to offer, NO ONE comes to mind for them and you’re marketing message falls flat and misses the mark.

This is how passing the Face Test can get you more clients:

  1. When you share what you do and the person you’re talking to says “That’s me! You’re describing me to a “T”, how do I get that?” That’s how you can get a client on the spot.
  2. When you share what you do and the person you’re talking to says “I know someone in that exact situation and they really need you, how can I connect the two of you?” That’s how you get a warm lead.
  3. When you’re not even present in a conversation: other people are talking and sharing what’s going on in their life and/or business and sharing a problem they’re facing or a solution they’re seeking and one of them says “I know someone who can help you with that, would you like me to put you in contact with them?” And the other person says “YES! I’d love that.” That’s how you get a hot pre-qualified referral.
  • I started seeing results in productivity and profits even before my sessions with Angelina ended.
